Is there ANYTHING on the market that you can coat silver with so that it
won't tarnish (or at least delays it)?

Hi Rick,

Degussa sells two types of silver antitarnish baths. One is a dip, the
other an electrolytic process. It DEFINITELY keeps silver white, but it
is not very abrasion resistant. Your articles will NOT tarnish in the
showdase or on the shelf. If you need more details, write me at
nhw...@hotmail.com. Happy to give more info. I am the India
representative of Degussa, but the product (inexpensive!) is available
everywhere. Not a common item, though.

Nariman.

Thanks for your response, but I am searching for a silver alloy/coating that
is effective with regards to wear, mainly in contact with human skin. I have
e-mailed Hoover & Strong and will wait to see if they have anything.

You can plate with palladium, or palte with nickel followed by
rhodium.

Greetings,
I have been successfully using an aerosol silver cleaner/protector
called Hagerty's for about three years. It does a fine job.

tell me more!!! i work with ALOT of sterling wire/findings/chain and the
tarnish problem drives me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the tarnish shield i
bought from rio grande doesn't seem to work well, especially if it's
jewelry that's already had to be cleaned prior to immersing in the
tarnish shield liquid, it seems to tarnish faster!

Hi, I've been "lurking" in the background but enjoy reading the posts.
I'd just like to say that I've had real good luck with MAAS polishing creme
for 'all metals'
It contains a jeweler's rouge and it seems to work nicely. Believe it or
not i picked it up at Walgreen's drug store so i'm sure you'll find it
fairly easily.
Best of luck,
