I've been told that you shouldn't sandblast borosilicate glass due to
potential hazards from static electricity. Does anyone have or know where I
could find more out about the hazard?

I know that a number of lampworkers regularly sandblast their work, but I'm
concerned about the potential hazard.

Thanks,
Clifford Snow

never heard this one before, but if that occurs, just ground the piece using
some form of ground strap or a grounded work surface that the piece is in
contact with..

I have sandblasted lots of different glass, and never had this problem-
never heard of it. I use aluminum oxide, but have heard that with using
silicon carbide, there is a `flash` where the grit is hitting the
glass. Could this be what you heard about?
