I need to know specifics about what type of wood to use, since I haven't
done a project like this before. Would a nail gun work for this? I've
used one before so I know how to work with it.

In scale, you're working with relatively very thin material. A nail
gun is too powerful and the nails are too big. Glue and small wire
nails or tacks work better.

What you use also depends on what kind of dollhouse you're making. If
it's a toy for children to play with, it needs to be sturdier than one
that would be more decorative. For the latter, interior walls are
often made of light-weight materials such as foam-core.

There are innumerable dollhouse plans and techniques available.
on-line. Just google for Making Dollhouses and other useful word
combinations. Or go to miniatures.org or miniatures.com (two different
sites),

There are also lots of dollhouse kits available in all sizes and styles.
