One of my great (big) uncles had a farm in Rullerfart County NC in the 30's and always had a jar of moonshine way back in the pantry. We younguns found it one time and I will never forget the smell and godawful taste. Acquired taste, I'd say.
Recently I learned from another relative that he had buried an old refrigerator front side up in the woods that one of his "business associates" would use when he had to make a sale, and a jar in the pantry was the rental.
He died back in the 60's and farm and refrigerator are long gone now.
