saw it I thought about how 95% of the gang on this newsgroup could come up with
something more beautiful...and more practical. Notice that it's only 13" in
length - how would you put it on? (Maybe it's for your cat.)

Ah, it's the name and the style, the same way you could buy a copy of
a Tiffany lamp for much less, but pay a lot for one actually made by
the factory when Tiffany was alive.

And remember, yesterday I had an actual, vivid, loud TANTRUM on my dog!
*lol* who had raided the trash just one too many times since he'd been
rescued from the shelter. I'd even said those toxic words "So this is why
they gave you up!"
I felt like screaming because he (my large Boxer) had gotten ahold of my
sweet vanilla creamer, drizzled it, smeared it, and finger pained it all
over my clean kitchen floor! And it was a long time since I'd cleaned it,
too!
Then, like a dead body, he dragged the carton to the first place he could
find on the carpet: the entryway. He empties the remainder of the carton
there, so anybody and everybody could view it.
I repeat, I felt like screaming. Because I had just cleaned the carpets,
too.
Well, I live alone. It's been a long time since I lost my temper. So I
screamed. I ranted and raved and hit the floor with a newspaper, even my
hands. I shouted Harley's name and pointed and so forth and so on.
The dog kind of watched in curious horrified amazement. And as I pulled a
baking sheet out of the pantry, he ran! as if I were going to swat him!
(Hmm... a blast from his past?) I had to laugh at that. I would never
strike him! *lol* Oh I was sooooo angry! As I directed some comments
towards him while picking up trash, he scooted into my bedroom and never
came out again until called! Now that is a first!
After my tantrum I was so wiped out I had to go to bed (7PM) Up later, I am
paying, now with insomnia, but a good laught and a well-deserved tantrum out
of my system.
So here I am, with a... (false) sense of civility about me...ahem.... ladies
and gentlemen!
I must say that my heart seriouly quickened when I saw this piece. For the
1920's and 30's are a period in time that my grandparents were in their
prime. And for some reason, I remain incredibly connected to my
grandmother, who had been dead now for a good 25 years.
Hers was a period of time that to date influences our fashion immensely,
although nobody would necessarily see it in a piece such as this. For this
is more an object of study.
It is for the purist; the novelist; the historian; the collector; for s/he
that is obsessed with an era so much so that they only want the piece for
the sake of novelty alone.

It is not a copy. It is an original custom designed piece for Werkstaette
by a woman named Likarz. Now Likarz may have been no more of a designer
than, say, myself. On the other hand, she may have been a Tiffany disigning
for Royalty??? A special Tiffany lamp made by Mr. Tiffany himself for the
very distinguished...someone of noble breeding in Austria, or from
Austria... And then for some time and for some reason part of a "Marx
collection" Well there were lots of Marx's in Europe I hear *lol*
Now consider this!!! Reading the detail in the piece, it is made with
"black and white Venetian Microglass Pearls" LIke microglass? Venetian
Microglass? Go on!
Also, I am likely wrong as right, but isn't that Art Deco that does all the
lines and squares and such? Art Nouveau was about a transition from
function (status) to beauty (whim), whereas Art Deco was about transition
from curves to lines.
The inset in this piece is CLASSIC Art Deco. The inset so beautiful I
prayed to see it closer. I think I'll copy it because I am not sure I'll
ever see anything like it again. And neither will any of you.
Look at it as a...segment of time when a young woman, such as your
gransmothers and great grandmothers, beaded with abandon and tried to set
trends and make fashion statements. And one day one of them was hired for
her services to make a special necklace for a special evening. And this is
what she came up with. It's just ...what they did. Like...a tin cup
necklace or...a Y-necklace. And hers appears to have been a mighty good one
at that!

the materials or piece itself.

Seed beads. Someone is translating German into English wrong. Both
French and German "perles" means beads, not pearls.
