Birthdate: 9/06/73
Colors: Purples, reds, blues -- also fall colors mixed with purple. Did I say
purple?
Treat: Milk chocolate and PEEPS!
Favorite Item of Jewelry & Size: I love hair jewelry of all kinds, but I don't
wear a lot of jewelry.
Style: Small and bright -- shiny, vibrant -- nothing terribly wild.
Favorite Kind of Beads: Sterling silver, crystal and lampwork. Anything with
flowers, fairies, dragons.
(BTW....Kandice's birthday is coming soon. She'll be THIRTY)
Jo Jo
Favorite colors: Purple is my all time favorite but I hardly every wear it. I
go for blues, pinks and reds.
Sweet treats: Dove Dark chocolate and there is this new candy bar out, least I
think its new, call Fast Break, yum.
Fav. Jewelry and Size: Bracelets, 8"
Favorite beads: I love them all.
Personal style, very casual, blue jeans, t-shirts and birkies.

Need I say it? Chocolate! I like dark or milk equally, though I'm not much of
a white fan. I also love tootsie rolls/pops, twizzlers, and jelly bellies. My
favorite dessert is CHERRY cheesecake (New York style.) Don't gimme none of
that berry nonsense on MY cheesecake, thankyouverymuch!
>~ Favorite item of Jewelry & Size:
I like brooches and bracelets. My wrist is 7.5 inches so I rarely get one that
fits me unless someone "planned ahead!" LOL
>~ Personal Style:
I work in a semi-professional office so my "style" is crimped a bit. Most of
the jewelry I wear needs to be office-wearable, too. My outside of the office
style can be rather flambouyant to completely boring - depending on my mood and
activity. I sometimes like to wear "cool" things that make people stop and ask
questions, but not weird enough to make them raise their eyebrows at me and
start dialing 911!
>~Favorite Kinds of Beads:
I love delicas. I work mostly with delicas. Delicas are my friends. Did I
mention DELICAS? Aside from D E L I C A S.....I like showy focal lampwork
beads - more design than pictoral. I like swirls and geometrics more than
angels and mermaids and hearts. Ew! No hearts! I also love to collect nice
trade beads (preferrably with a good story) and bead BOOKS!

Oh. Hmm. I tend to make things that are more classical, enduring, and elegant
than cutesy or whimsical. I also try to be unique and rarely make the same
thing twice - and never in exactly the same colors/style.
This is fun! Thanks for doing this!

Sweets Treats to Eat: Turtle Sundaes on frozen custard, dark chocolate

Favorite item of Jewelry & Size: Sapphires... just sapphires. And I

ahhh, gotta think about that. Well, I like lampwork beads and I have some but
I've not done much with them, I have ideas but I haven't seen the beads I'd
like to use with them. I also like stone beads and am slowly building my
supply up, I go for the blue stones and also the ones that have alot of
different colors mixed in them. Most of my beading has been with regular czech
glass beads. I didn't really start getting into other things till I came here
and started seeing alot of your work. I hope this is what you mean Sooz.
Cool. I wish I'd of known about them years ago. I saw shoes like that, never
knew they were Birkenstock, never really heard that name before but I'd see
people wearing them and thought they were so ugly. They've changed alot over
the years. So many cute styles now.

Fave colors: Blues, greens and purples mostly, but anything jewel toned is
great too (ie. ruby red, saphire blue, garnet red, etc) and i prefer silver
over gold.
Fave Sweet: CHOCOLATE!!! particularly dove, godiva or symphony bars. Also,
cheese cake is a wonderfull thing.
Item of jewelry and size: dangly earrings (beadded or otherwise), captured
bead hoop earrings (12 gauge in bottom holes, a little big)
Also necklaces, i love to match my earrings to my necklace, so im always
looking for the perfect beads to wear in my captured bead hoops. youd be
surprised how difficult it can be to find beads the right size for that! :)
Personal style: i love mixing different kinds of looks in one piece, lately
its been stone chips with colored shaped glass and seed bead accents all on
complimentary colors. very pretty and casual. i like stuff that is easy to
wear, but with a splash. stuff you dont see every day. another thing that i
absolutely love is markesite set in silver with mixed gems. looks so cool
and old fashioned.
Fave beads: i love looking at lampworked beads, but unless its understated
or really delicate (read as small and not too flashy) i probably wouldnt
wear it. i love stone chips, one of my fave pieces is a necklace all done in
multi stone chips.
B-Day: May 1, and i'll be 25 next year.

And speaking of AK, when I read that your son and DIL fight fires, I assumed
you meant forest fires. In many villages here, people work seasonally.
Trapping in the winter and fighting fires in the summer is common, and these
people are in demand all over the States. But probably different from what
your son does.
I had my kids young, with my first band who is 2 + years older than I. Now
I'm married to Pete who is 3 years younger and has a 12 year old son. The
right age for a grandchild!
This is a wonderful group for learning and being encouraged. I hope you'll
enjoy it here.
I checked out your auctions and was unsure about something. It sounds like
you sell work done by some one else. Do you also sell your own work?

Thanks, Margie! I was just looking at your PictureTrail stuff. Your tree
necklace is GORGEOUS!!!
Actually, the comment about "the right age to be a grandmother" referred to
my stepson (who lives with his mother). My son is 36, so could have easily
had a child at 24 (instead of 34). Then I would have had a step son and a
grandson both 12 years old.
The granddaughter I do have is 2 1/2, and was born in Ukraine. When my son
brought his wife home from Ukraine she was pregnant, and couldn't get
insurance because she was already pregnant or gov't medical because she was
a sponsored immigrant. So she went home to Ukraine to have her baby.
Saw your picture trail. I love your sense of color and composition! Have
you looked at Becki's work? It's a little more floral, and a little more
ornate, but I think you'd find comfort in the color, composition and
balance. http://members.aol.com/beckibead/becki.html

I do literally live in a one room log cabin with an outhouse. But I also
have an "in-house". And the "one room" is a "trapper style" layout, and I
have about 1,000 sq ft, with a separate garage and a couple out buildings.
A trapper style cabin has a shallow slope to the roof, and a U shaped living
space with separate areas, but no doors, except the one to the bathroom.
The bathroom, utility "room" (boiler, water pump, etc), closets, kitchen
cabinets, etc form the inside of that U. The house is made of full rounds
with 16" to 20" butts. The rounds make it hard to put up any small
paintings, partly because the don't hang flat, but also because there's a
certain amount of drama to the sight of the logs that can be quite
overwhelming to a pale or delicate decoration.
Although we have a pretty samall population, we are central to the state,
and have quite good facilities -- excellent university, light opera,
symphony orchestra. And good beading resources, especially considering the
size, since we supply lots of people from the villages who sell their work
for a living or major suppliment. We have an unusually high proportion of
artists here. And yet all I need to get to my own private space is drive 6
miles out of town. I like it.

Welcome, from one lurking not-so-newbie to another!
Jewitch
Just recently I picked up a book on peyote stitch and made my first
free form bracelet with various size seed beads.
I have been kind of quiet lately. Spring and summer have been very
busy due to my mom having a stroke. I just did start back beading
after taking a break. I have been reading all the messages though.
Karen
Best wishes with your mother. Is she OK?
Last Christmas my mother was hit (in her truck) by a car. Lots of damage.
Paralyzed left arm. She'll be 80 in November.
Don't forget to keep taking care of yourself too.

{{{{{Karen}}}}} I hope she's been making an uneventful recovery.
I am in the process of making a quilted wall hanging for her room.
I know she is unhappy being there.
Is your mom alright? I'm sorry that she got hurt.
Karen
She's living in her big house all alone again. With cleaning and yard help.
It's been more than 6 months. And she plans to fly from Texas to Oakland,
Ca for her birthday in Nov.
So don't give up hope on your Mom. The most helpful thing for Mom was
stubborn determination (and a sort of selfishness) and a keen interest and
intention to do things in the future.
Can your Mom swim? Can she use her hands to make something? Can she widen
her world though use of her computer?
You know, Sooz's husband Kevin is quadrapalegic, and still lives a joyful
and interesting life.
Sending those healing vibes your way.
