Is there any good way to stiffen the back of beaded earrings? The ones
I've made don't hold their shape, they just curl up.Any advice would be
appreciated.

What stitch are you using? Are these comanche or peyote or loomed earrings? The technique
will determine what the problem might be. Thread tension is usually a culprit. Please describe
further.

You can coat the beads with a good quality clear nailpolish to stop the
curling. I wasn't too sure at first, but it works great and isn't
noticeable at all.

If you are using comanche weave, check the tension of your thread. If
often find that if I just let them "hang" for a while, the weight of the
beads straightens out any curling.

here it goes again. The earrings are fan shaped using #2 bugle beads and
#11 seed beads. I used a comanche weave or a variation of it. Since I
had to go through the beads several times I used a waxed nymo thread
size 0. Is this enough of a description? I don't think thread tension
was the culprit because I tend to weave very tight unless it was
too tight?

Part of the problem is that when you are assembling the earrings you
need to be careful of the tension and how tight you pull the thread.
Pulled to tight and rolling will result. I do know of someone who
used a little superglue to accomplish the flattening.

Hope this helps.

I agree with the suggestion of clear nail polish. I've made a fan shaped
earring with bugles before and it really is the style - it's difficult to
hold shape on it's own. I made mine several years ago and they've held up
well with the polish

I use clear nail polish on the back side of my earrings to stiffen them.
Only apply on the commanche weave portion, not on the fringes.

Hope this helps.
