I am also interested in these stamps. If anyone has any information (names &
addresses) of companies or dealers that carry these stamps, please post it
here or e-mail me at loue...@uism.bu.edu. Thank you.

I didn't think Abkhazia even issued it's own stamps. Being a big Marx
brothers fan (or a small Marx brothers toaster oven, take your pick! %=)
), I'm curious, but highly skeptical. What other of those breakaway
parts of former Soviet countries issue their own stamps (like Chechnya,
which has become in the news lately, it got stamps?)

These are real stamps from Abkhazia. A few weeks ago they were featured
in Linn's Stamp news. Other than profit from sales from collectors, the
stamp's motivation is certainly meant as sarcasm directed at the former
communist party.

Groucho Marx and John Lennon are English language puns on Karl Marx and V. Lenin.
I understand that. Anybody who went to college twenty years ago saw this same
pun on posters and tee shirts. The question is whether the pun translates into
Russian or whatever language is spoken in Abkhazia. How many Abkhazians have
ever seen a Marx Brothers movie?
What the heck, buy the stamp and enjoy it. It's no more ridiculous than winter
olympics stamps from Equtorial Guinea or Mickey Mouse stamps from Bhutan.
(Maybe even Chinese New Year stamps from the US)
