Anyone know who this was? I get the feeling he was a famous stamp
collector,
but I'm not sure. I own some of his stuff - revenue models from the
1700s and 1800s,
ledgers, receipts, and whole lot of other paper, with a couple of
stamps, which I got at an auction,
in enclosed trunks ( #1 - #5).

Anyone know if this stuff is worth anything? (reply by email pls)

thx

Yes, I know who he was.

He was a prominent collector of revenues and proofs. His collection of
Private Die Proprietary Revenue stamps was auctioned Sept 12-14, 1991 by
Andrew Levitt. Other material from his collections have been sold in
auctions conducted by Stanley Richmond of the Daniel Kelleher Company in
Boston.

I'm sure both Mr. Levitt and/or Mr. Richmond would be interested in
knowing more about what you have. Without more details, it's hard to
determine if it has large monetary value, but from an archival
perspective, it could be very useful to serious students of revenues and
proofs.

I am forwarding your message to Andy. I'm also passing it along to Eric

Eric is in McLean, Virginia this weekend, as he has a booth at NAPEX.

Good luck. I'd love to know more about the contents of those trunks!!
Where did you buy them? How were they described??

Best Regards,

He was just the biggest American Revenue collector in the USA, when He
died a few years ago. You don't know what your stuff maybe worth, maybe

he never got time to go thru it, or maybe it's the left over. Have fun!
