That's a good question; however, if you mean MNH S/S and the difference
between MNH and MLH, that I can answer.

MNH S/S -- mint never hinged souvenir sheet
MNH -- mint never hinged
MLH -- mint lightly hinged

Hello Marco,

I hope you are having fun collecting stamps. As you get to know the
meaning of some of these abbreviations, it will become even more fun.
I'm sure others will also reply to your questions, and the answers should
give you a very good understanding when you read them all. I'm just a
casual collector, so my answers will be pretty simple and not technical
at all.

When you ask about MHN (some say MNH) which stands for Mint, Never
Hinged. This means that the stamp is basically just the way you might
buy it from the post office. It is unused and the gum on the back is
undisturbed. Some collectors think this is the ideal example of a
stamp, while others prefer to collect stamps that have actually been used
for their intended purpose and bear a cancellation.

Then there are stamps that have not been used yet, but a collector such
as you or me has mounted the stamp in an album using a stamp hinge on the
back. When this is done, the gum on the back is no longer perfect. If
you
remove the hinge and there is just a small trace of where it was, the
stamp
is called Mint, light hinged (MLH or LHM). The more devidence of the
hinge,
the less the stamp is worth to collectors who worry about that sort of
thing. These other abbreviations will be Mint, hinged (MH or HM) or Mint,

heavy hinge (MHH or HHM) and Mint, hinge remnants (MHR or HRM).

S/S means Souvenir Sheet. You might think of a S/S as a large picture
printed on a sheet of paper but with 1 or more stamps outlining a smaller
part of the picture. (Maybe the picture is of an underwater scene, and
the
stamp or stamps contain the fishes.) You can tear these stamps out and
use
them for postage if you like.

Keep having fun collecting stamps however you like them. And keep asking
questions to better understand what others consider important.

Best regards,
Tim Balm
