I have for sale 1st edition, hardcover book "Quarterblack: Shattering The
NFL Myth" by Doug Williams (first Black Superbowl Quarterback (1990). The
1st edition contains 210 pages including black and white photographs
profiling the football career of Washington Redskins' quarterback, Doug
Williams.
Front Jacket Excerpt:
"He is the Jackie Robinson of quarterbacks. He became the first black to
make it big at a position previously reserved for whites. in his early
years as a pro, he turned the Tampa bay Buccaneers from the laughingstock
of the National Football League into a legitimate contender. Then, in 1988,
destinguished himself as the first black quarterback to play in the Super
Bowl and proceeded to lead the Washington Redskins to a landslide victory,
earning the high honor of Most Valuable Player. Without Doug Williams, the
game of professional footabll would still be living under a veil of
prejudice, restricted by an unspoken premise that a black man does not have
the mental faculties to fully master the quarterback position. Williams
ripped apart the illusion, created by bigotry, small minds, and the fear
that blacks might someday take over the NFL. With one fell swoop of his
Super Bowl heroics, he shattered the myth that a black quarterback could
not rise to the pinnacle of pro football."
