There's a complete list of all the APO's on line at Jim Forte's web
site:

Sorry. I posted to r.c.p-h by mistake. It was intended as an answer to a
similar e-mail query, which I confused it with this thread.

Dear Jay----

In May 1944 APO 871 was probably still in Cheltenham Park,
England. The Military Postal History Society lists earliest known
usage from Bovingdon as being in November 1944. If you have
information to the contray, you should contact George Cosentini of the
MPHS so future editions of the "Geographic Locations" book can be
updated.

Steve

Steve Suffet pointed out that APO 871 was located at Cheltenham Park
(not Bovingdon) on the indicated date. He's right - I mis-read the
listing in the APO catalog.

(Slightly off topic:) I really deserve a reprimand for this. For
those who recall a rather acrimonius thread on rec.collecting.stamps
a few months ago where I stated that someone could call me "Sir Jay"
since one of my ancestors was knighted, the reason that this particular
ancestor (Capt. Henry Skillicorn) was knighted (by George III, I think)
was that he built Cheltenham Spa! Feel free to give me the proverbial
40 lashes with a wet noodle (virtual, of course)!

HI----Suggest that you contact Dann Mayo at
P.O.Box 20837, Indianapolis, In 46220---(317)
255-5912 or email him at dann...@indy.net
I believe he may have an inexpensive publication on hand that lists the
locations for APO numbers. He is a dealer in military postal history,
and honest, helpful, and cooperative.
He is a resurrection of the old time dealers of
Nassau St. legend, a long time ago. Say hello to him from Herb
Ashendorf. Bye
