I've heard plenty of people refer to Roosevelt as Eisenhower on the
dime, but mistake an eagle for a peacock??

Well, I am a birder as well as a numismatist, and I can _almost_ sort
of see confusing the Kennedy eagle with a peacock- the rays with stars
near the ends could possibly be mistaken for the long tail feathers
with eye-spots. Although that doesn't explain what she thought the
actual tail feathers were supposed to be... or why a peacock would be
on a US coin holding arrows and an olive branch...
