Cleaning tarnish off coins is generally frowned upon in the hobby,
although many folks have done it in one form or another throughout its
popularity.
I would say that unless you could clean them without the process of
cleaning being able to be detected, that otherwise leave them as they
are, well-traveled through time.
thanks for the info. some of my tarnished coins actually look more
defined with the tarnish.
Last week, at a coin auction, I saw lots of coins that were cleaned,
actually they were very shiny. I don't remember what they sold for but I
suspect it was
below what they would've sold for had they not been cleaned.
