I have a coin about the size of a nickel, except it is copper
coloured.
It has a picture of man on it with Konstantinoe Kanaphe written around
the edge.
The reverse has a picture of a sailboat. The first word on this side
has some regular letters and some symbols, the closest approximation
to this is EVVNHIKH AHMOKPATIA.
I have several other coins with very different (maybe arabic?) writing
on them. Could someone please point me to a web site that might have
pictures of coins on it, so that I can identify them.
Thanks
Diane.
Diane,
It sounds like a 1 Drachma coin from Greece from the 1970s. Konstantinos
Kanaris is on the obverse and a ship is on the reverse. I do not belive
that it is worth more than about 25 cents.
Have Fun,
Bill
It's a 1 Drachma from Greece. Value depends on the condition of a coin
but these are pretty common.

You can try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins.
You could also post descriptions here by giving details such as country,
date, denomination, condition, etc or as close as you can determine.

Hi Diane
Bill was close. The coin is KM-116, and was minted in 1976, '78, '80, '82, '84,
and '86. The ship is on the obverse, and Kanaris is on the reverse. Value is
$.10 in VF, $.15 in EF, and $1.25 in Unc.
