American Samoa Quarter 'Scarcer' Than Guam Coin

GUAM - Perhaps owing in part to declining demand for
new circulating quarter dollar coins, production of
U.S. territorial quarters continues to drop.

The latest design, the America Samoa Quarter Dollar,
the fourth in a series of six new quarters being
produced in stages this year by the U.S. Mint, has
tallied the lowest production of any new quarter in
the set.

That, according to CoinNews.Net.

Guam held the previous scarcity record among new U.S.
territorial quarters with just 87,600,000 coins
produced between the Denver and Philadelphia Mints.
But at 82,200,000 coins, production of the American
Samoa Quarter was just 94 percent of the total Guam
mintage.

Coin News says these are tidings of joy for
numismatists:

Coin collectors will revel in the news, making the
territories' quarter products ever more desirable.

BULL$#!+. The reason production is so low is because the Mint dumped
so many quarters into circulation over the past ten years, and banks
are refusing to order them. Most took a beating on the shipping alone
with the SQs. And there's a severe flood of quarters now that the SQ
program is over, and people are cashing them in since no one is paying
$100 a roll for any of them anymore.

FWIW, I've seen ONE Ellington-P quarter and none of any of the others.

in change continue to be pre-SQ examples.
