Rare coins stolen in Des Moines burglary

A neighbor was watching Wednesday as burglars removed a
television set, a gun and other items from the home of
John Allen in the 1300 block of East Washington Avenue.
Four men carried Allen's possession to two vehicles, a
silver-colored car and a black truck, possibly a Ford
Ranger.
A door to the house had been ripped from its hinges.
Allen was gone for only 20 minutes, police said.
When Allen returned he called police and told them a
safe containing valuable coins also had been stolen.
The gun that the neighbor saw being carried from the
house was a BB gun.
Burglars also broke a closet door that had been
locked. No arrests have been reported and police
say they have no suspects.
