The marine corp coin & stamp set. This set has a satin finish on the
coin, is the satin finish on this BU coin considered a special type coin
over the regular BU commem? I looked on the US mint web site and seen on
the bottom of the page that these sets are no longer available. Ed

That's the standard finish for uncirculated modern comems.

Of course. I didn't order any of those. They are sure to be wildly popular
selling for many times over the US Mint price.

What he said--these are made exactly like your basic standard bullion
SAE's--one of a maximum of 600,000 total of proofs and the BU's. This
combined mintage figure garbage is not right.
The coins very well may be extremely popular regardless of how many they
make so that will keep the values going up on all of the coins due to the
massive cross-over appeal these will have.
So 10 years from now if these sets are selling for 600 bucks you would be
paying for a fancy box, some literature honoring the Marines and a COA.
That's if they haven't stuck some ringers in those sets--they've been known
to do such things in years past.
For example they never hyped that those Cheerios Sac dollars were anything
special. Someone no doubt had spent some of those $600 coins on gum.

It's strange that the US Mint had a not available on the bottom of their
page when I last checked but they are still available. I was able to
place my order. I looked at the description for the individual BU
commem and then looked at the BU description in the set and noticed they
had high lighted "satin finish" so I thought it was something unique or
special. I guess I paid the extra $$$ for the packaging and the 3 cent
stamp... I still can't figure out the legacy sets, why $130.00 for proof
clad coins?, anyway thanks to all for your input. Ed
