Worse news on the Cleveland I bought, though. ;-(
Arrived in a !!ziplock!! baggie, not even a 2x2, and is not 'GEM BU' or
IMMACULATE COIN, it's hairlined extensively. (sigh).
Waiting to hear from seller about how he honors his 10 day return. At
this point, the seller (one neg in 400+) can;t expect any better than
"Quick refund on inaccurately described hairlined coin". I hope for no
retalitory, but I owe it to other buyers to let them know.
AND: 1972 Mint set arrived, so deals off for my offer of a silver
Roosevelt for a clad 1972 Washington. ;-)
I had planned on putting the half dollars in my albums, too, but
absolutely forgot that the Mint set would include PDS Lincolns in full
Red! So my from circulation modern Lincs get a boost as well.
So that's a two out of three for Ebay by mail, today.
As it happens, that Cleveland refund would just exactly match a
lacquered half-cent at Ye Local Coin Shop with EF/AU details. Guess
I'll be looking that over tonight!

This is why I won't buy a classic commerative raw. Any of the slabbing
services would have body-bagged this coin, or at least netgraded it down
to an AU-something.

Yep, it would definitely been body-bagged. I have 9 Classics (not
counting this Cleveland), all purchased raw, two in person, 6 from
either Ebay or an on-line dealer, and 1 mail order. The mail order is
very likely whizzed (Stone Mountain for $40). Otherwise, I have gotten
'no problem/as described' material. But then, we're not talking MS-64s,
either. ;-) My Pilgrim is an AU55~58, and my Sesqui is an unattractive
finish, a dull charcoal toning that is likely a retone after an overdip
some years back. The Columbians, Long Island, Monroe, Lexington, Booker
T are low MS, 60~62 but good surfaces.

'guano what to do but must do sumptin'
I am surprised the coin did not match the description. I have
done business with John in the past and found him to be one of
the better sellers in my Ebay experience. I would be
surprised if he does not do right by you.

I hope we can all be good neighbors online!
Sorry, Bob if I gave the wrong impression. John UHlir is the source of
the Madison and another seller, in Tennessee is the source for the Cleveland.
