I received my 2005 Euro set from San Marino, for which I'm happy.

Bu in looking at my VISA statement, the billed amount exchanged to US
dollars was $73.

The set cost 40 Euro + 4 Euro shipping.

The exchange rate for 4/28/05 (billing date) was 1 Euro=1.2916 USD.

this results in about $55 exchange rate.

even with the most liberal "service" charges my bank adds on, I can't see
how this would bump the charge up to $73.

anybody else get San Marino sets? How much did they cost you after
exchange?

obviously, I'll be talking to my bank on Monday.

Which is what showed up on my credit card bill (I am in Euroland). But
doesn't Visa list the amount in both the foreign currency and your
domestic currency? At least that is what my bank does ... Another idea:
Did you perhaps order anything else from the AASFN? This year's 5 euro
proof "Torino Olympics" coin costs €20, and the 10 euro "Uniformed
Militia" commem is €25.

This is for your bank and VISA. I still have a US$ check for US$ 25.00
that I do not cash because cashing would be more expensive than the
amount I would get out of it.

But as Christian said, my creditcard statements always give the amount
in both domestic and foreign currencies (if applicable) and state also
the surcharge when the currencies are different, and when such is
applicable (not in the EU, but it is for the US, but it depends of the
kind of card). In my experience a surcharge is at most 1 or 2 Euro.

Received it about a month or so ago.

This is correct.

Before doing that, check if you have ordered the 5 or 10 euro silver coins.
If you have ordered them, then they maybe have charged you for these coins,
too, and that's why the $73 charge.

Listen to the sage advice of little Gogule

He has MUCH CREDIBILITY ! *ROTFFLOL*

Let us examine the fixation Gogu has with the Emfietzoglou family

> Thanks for the other info. Who is Efthimioglou?

Emfietzoglou is the correct spelling. He is the founder and the main
share
holder of the "Michaniki" company, one of the biger Greek construction
companies. He is considered to be one of the most wealthy persons in
Greece
and a Maecenas of the arts. As a matter of fact, he bought from the
Sotheby's two years ago, the famous painting "to krifo scholio" and
donated
it to the Greek state. And the price was some good millions of
drachmas;
even dollars if you like:-))). He pays for the studies of many of his
worker's children. He constructed and donated, in Thrace, many popular
houses for the Pontius Greeks that are repatriated. His company is by
far
the bigest in Greece and it has contracts all over the Balkans and in
Russia. He is disabled (he can't walk because of polio) and he is
personally
checking all his works in the field, using a helicopter! Except for
his
money, he is a very serious person, too. A Nestor of our business world
I
would dare say.
By the way, if you are "born and bred" in Athens-Greece, how come you
don't
know him? He is frequently on T.V, press etc. Or maybe you are not
living in
Greece? If this is the case, please try to learn more about people of
your
own race (what a nasty word!), who are worthing to be proud of.
Always a pleasure to discuss with you
regards
