Interesting historical medal - Kittanning PA

I have a medal commemorating the Kittanning PA Fort Armstrong
Folk Fesival 1976 running on eBay at present:

The reverse design includes "Kittanning Destroyed By Coll. Armstrong,
(view of burning town, soldiers and dead body in foreground), September
8, J756." I mused in the lot description ... why would a town honor the
colonel who destroyed it by naming a fort and a folk festival after him?
A Kittanning PA native provided, as Paul Harvey would say, The Rest Of
The Story.

Short explanation:
British Colonel John Armstrong led British troops on a successful raid
against the Delaware Indians' Lenni-Lanape village of Kit-Han-Ne on
Sept. 8, 1756, a major battle in the French and Indian War. The town of
Kittanning was later named based on this original Indian name.

Thanks for the post

I had the opportunity to see one of these at the 2004 ANA convention in
Pittsburgh. It's significance to local history makes it one of my
favorites.
