Man reports theft of old currency belonging to dead mother

SHELBY- An Easton Drive man reported Monday the
theft of old coins and cash belonging to his
dead mother. Britt Fender told Shelby Police
that more than $270 in discontinued and
misprinted currency was stolen from a cabinet
in his home. The collection included half
dollar coins, 1973 silver quarters, $2 bills,
misprinted $10 bills, a $20 gold piece and a
1923 silver dollar.
The theft occurred between Nov. 1 and Jan. 5,
Fender reported. If you have any information
regarding the theft, call Shelby Police at
704-484-6845 or call CrimeStoppers anonymously
at 704-481-TIPS (8477).
