I don't know whether the Bay Bridge is unc or not. I do not see a reb or
sign of wear, but it is toned and the mint luster looks weak under the
toning, but there is mint luster. I am calling it an AU. The toning is
somewhat attractice on the bridge side and that side does have good eye
appeal, depending on one's tastes.

Looks like a nice coin, Bill. It looks very much like one I bought a
long time ago, when I had a coin table at a flea market in California.
An old guy came up and showed me one in a paper envelope, that he had
been carrying in his wallet ever since his days as a construction
worker...on the Bay Bridge! I think he told me these were given to
people that worked on that project. Same kind of toning. I bought it
from him, and regret that I ever re-sold it.

I was just going to say that I didn't even know there wás a Bay Bridge
commemorative! Then I looked and realised that it's for some bridge
out in California, and not really the Bay Bridge at all! ;)

Personally, I don't like "toned" coins. Looks like someone drizzled
hot chocolate all over the thing. But otherwise, it's a nice looking
piece and I learned something new to boot!

If you want to see a Reb, you need to look at your Gettysburg Half. ;)
But that's a great looking coin in my opinion.
Well, I think it is a nice coin. I don't know how to be accurate in grading
it, though, since I am not sure if it has any wear ( I don't see it) and the
mint luster seems weak. The toning ( which I am thinking as describing as
Padraic brown, although it is not so much brown) is not for everyone,
although I think most would be pleased with the bridge side. I hope whoever
takes it will be happy with it. Bill
Hot chocolate? Nah. It's a new color called Padraic brown.
Bill
I think it is everyone's desire to not see a reb on this coin, and I am sure
there is no reb under that bridge. I don't think there is one behind the
bear, but I can't be sure.

Based on what the sainted Bowers has to say in his commemorative
encyclopedia, and also in accordance with the revered Swiatek's
commemorative guide, the Bay Bridge reverse is a great big whooping
deal, especially those stylized waves. So is the bruin's shoulder. But
from your photos, the reverse waves look good.
In coin design, does anything more unattractively display the stray
'hit' than a set of parallel lines? In some ways, its far worse to see
a mash there than on a flat field. ;-/
