Now to see if any banks get them in the branches this week.
no sign of any quarters since #1 (D.C.).
Nice pick on the Lincolns... the new quarters have been pretty scarce
out east (Northern Virginia), although I did luck out and got a Puerto
Rico
quarter during a cruise shopping excursion while docked in Puerto
Rico!
I got a 'Formative Years' cent that trip as well.
That started my obsession, er... quest for the new issues. I went to
various registers and asked if I could buy a roll of new pennies "for
the penny smashers." (I only use BU pre-1982 cents for smashing; I
figured what they don't know won't hurt them.) Most of the cast
members were happy to look through the handful of rolls they had
stored in their register. Most of them had mixed rolls of cents, but
I ended up buying six rolls of 2009 cents. All D-mint, of course.
Two were the Rail Splitter design, and four were the Professional Life
design. Score!!
Up until Saturday, I've received a total of four---count 'em,
four---2009 cents in change. All were the Log Cabin design.
Early on, I had decided I would not pay more than face value for rolls
of 2009 cents, but broke my rule at the recent Long Beach Coin Show,
where I bought two P-mint rolls of each of the first three designs
from South Park Coins. Their prices---somewhere between $2 and $3.50
per roll, depending on the design---were the lowest I'd seen, so I
caved.
Happy hunting.
