I keep hearing that Saddam Hussein fancies himself as Nebuchadnezzar (Bible
Book of Daniel) reborn. In fact, he has a coin with his picture superimposed
over the ancient biblical king.

Is this coin available anywhere or at least, does anyone know where there is an
on-line picture of this coin? Thanks in advance.

I've seen various posters with Saddam and Nebuchadnezzar pictured "side
by side". Odd, to put it mildly. But apparently he sees, or used to see,
himself as an equally great ruler and architect/builder. In the 80s they
did an actually nice job, from what I have read, restoring parts of
Babylon ... except that every tile or brick apparently says something
like "built during the reign of Saddam Hussein".

But I have not seen that coin yet, only read about it. It is a gold
coin, I think, with Saddam's profile over Nebuchadnezzar's. Maybe it was
issued on the occasion of the first "Babylon International Festival" in
1987.

I was in the same boat as you, looking around for them and not finding anything. But about 8 years ago I actually found a set that one of the Saddam and Nebuchadnezzar coins and a few others that he made the following years and bought them. I wouldnt really call them coins they are more medalions. They are quite large and heavy. They look like they are a light metal poored into a mold and then coated in nickle or brass. But if you google (nebuchadnezzar saddam hussein coin and look under images you will see some photos of other ones. It looks like they were coated in different metals also.
Hope that answers your question and helps.

I have a few of these coins. Very cool. Trying to figure out the value of said medals.

Check your local library and maybe they have a Krause World Coin Catalog or you could just buy one. This book will be very helpful in figuring out your world coin values.

The Krause Standard Catalogs include coins but not medals. These pieces appear to be modern medals (coin-like objects but without a monetary denomination).

Accordingly, the Standard Caralogs won't help.
