I have a copper(?) colored French coin. It is dated 1855 and says "NAPOLEON III
EMPEREUR" around the rim of the obverse. Beneath the portrait of Napoleon III
is what appears to be the word "BARRE"

On the reverse it says "EMPIRE FRANCAIS" around the top half of the rim. On the
bottom half of the rim it says "DIX CENTIMES." The design on the reverse is an
eagle. Under the eagle is what appears to be a mint mark "K."

You have a French 10 Centimes coin. Depending on it's condition (grade) it
could be worth anywhere between less than 2 dollars (VG or less) to 100
dollars (UNC or better). Hope this helps.

Hello,
To add to Ed Hendricks information, you can find this coin in Krause-Mishler
World Coins Catalog most recently in the 19th Century Catalog. It is
KM771.5 - one of two coins dated 1855K which in lower grades are worth about
$1 to $2 - real nice ones about $10 - & new ones $30 to $50.

Over the w/e I picked up from a flea market - a $5 Marshall Islands
Commemorative Silver coin of the 1988 Discovery shuttle launch. It
appears to be a Proof and is about the same size as a one ounce coin.
It is in the original issue holder.

I paid $5 for it (the silver is worth more than that) (:-) What's it
worth?

Thanks in advance.

according to my scwc, it is KM6, made of copper-nickle alloy. value $5.50
uncirc. does not show any proofs for this coin. my guess is thats its real
value is $1-2.
