Christopher Ironside is best known for creating the designs for the
UK’s first decimal set. I think I am on safe ground in saying that
nobody ever called any of those designs a classic. What is less well
known, however, is that he produced several fine designs for overseas
countries in which his numismatic art was able to reach its full
