while going thru the remains of parents stuff we discovered a very nice looking $1 FRN 1935A Hawaii star note. Is this probably worth having it graded by one of the services that does currency? I had a note with it saying who they got it from in 1944.

It's your call. If the note is in relatively good shape I would. If it's bent, crumpled, dirty, torn, excessively worn, etc., maybe not. Your Hawaii star note has an interesting history. Post a link to a photo if you can.
