I found a commemorative coin celebrating the queens coronation of 1953 can anyone tell me if this has any value as I can not find it in any coin books! It is about an inch in diameter with the Queens portrait on the back and EIIR on the reverse with a crown and Elizabath coronation 1953

This piece of metal is a coronation medal; it is not a coin and it is not
listed in most coin books. They were issued in several sizes and
compositions. The small bronze ones are the most common and were issued
to all school age children in 1953 (or am I confusing the George VI
medals?). Values range from a couple of bucks to $100 US or so
depending on condition, size, and composition. Of course, children are
not known for handling bits of metal properly...

On another subject: *** 2 coin collecting Locke's on the net! *** COOL!

If I'm not mistaken, it's the schoolchildren's medal.
Several million were issued in canada in 1953. Usually they are worth
less than a dollar (Canadian funds). They are very hard to find with
luster, though, and can be worth up to $10 in brilliant Unc.
