There's what's known as the Henning nickel

http://www.numismaticenquirer.com/TNE/Henning%20Counterfeit%20Nickel.html

A Google search of "1944 counterfeit nickel" returns qute a number of hits.

Some people confuse artifacts with the act that created them and think
they're being righteous in getting such auctions cancelled. Long ago I put
together a type set of contemporary counterfeits that includes a Roosevelt
dime, of all things. The one item I searched for but never found was a lead
Lincoln. Jim, if you're interested in the Henning nickel along with a
contemporary newspaper clipping describing it, reply to this post and I'll
send you a message letting you know what I need for them.

These are popular collectibles and typically sell for $30 or so. But
when I saw the OP, I knew Finnan or DeMayo or some other
busybody would jump on it like a fly does to poop.

There you go libeling me again Fwankie.
I suppose if someone called the fire department if your house was on
fire or called the cops if they saw you being robbed, you'd call them
busybodies too, right?

Frank, I think it would be best if you blocked posters that can be
depended upon to insult you. You are using a lot of energy responding
to them, to no purpose. These threads have become depressingly
predictable: you post, someone posts childish insults, you respond. I
ignore pointless posts from certain members and advise you to do
likewise.

There goes Fwankie digging up a weeks-old thread, just like I said he
would.
What a pathetic, attention-starved loser! A real sick fuck!

But see "Bob", Fwankie digs the attention.
Why else dig up old threads?
He's a sick fuck and likes being humiliated in public.

Fwankie, please explain why your auctions were yanked and your account
suspended numerous times if all the complaints lodged against you were
"false" and "frivilous".
Please explain why you feel it is OK for you to report other people's
auctions but not OK for people to report YOUR auctions that were in
violation of eBay listing regulations.
Please explain why eBay yanked your auctions if your auctions did not
violate their regulations.
Please explain why you feel that auctions which violate eBay listing
regulations are not "actual problems".
Please explain why, according to you, you have so many enemies that are
trying to "sabotage" your business.
Please explain why you keep posting to Usenet when it is clear that it
causes you nothing but trouble.
The floor is yours, Fwankie.

Frank is worthless, worth much less than dog shit or the broken string
on a thrice-used tampon.

But what else can you expect from the "Chairwoman" of the "Texas
Sexually-ambiguous Coin Dealers' Commitee Against Candy
Cigarettes"???

And what exactly is a "joe-job" anyway??? Is that like "toe-jamb"???
Because whenever Fwankie whines and whines, that's kinda like "toe-
jamb".
