The official launching in the territory of the American
Samoa commemorative quarter is rescheduled for September
because Gov. Togiola Tulafono is currently off-island.

The local launching was originally set for later next
week, but Motu Seui Jr., with the governor's office said
yesterday that the event has been postponed because the
governor left Thursday night and won't be back until
Aug. 9.
Motu said the event is rescheduled for sometime in
September but a date has not yet been confirmed.
Monday, July 27, is the official day that the
commemorative quarter enters circulation. This is the
fourth coin to be released under the 2009 District of
Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program.
The coin's reverse (tails side) design features the ava
bowl ("tanoa"), whisk and staff in the foreground with
a coconut tree on the shore in the background.
Inscriptions include AMERICAN SAMOA and SAMOA MUAMUA
LE ATUA ("Samoa, God is First"), the territory's motto.
The U.S. Mint announced last week that collectors may
begin ordering specially packaged American Samoa
commemorative quarter-dollar coins on Monday.
Available options are a two-roll set and a 100-coin
bag, both priced at $32.95, and a 1,000-coin bag
priced at $309.95.
Togiola is enroute to Washington for several meetings,
which include a meeting sometime next week at the
White House to present the local minimum wage petition
calling on President Barack Obama to repeal the 2007
federal law which mandates the 50-cent hike in the
minimum wage for American Samoa and the Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands.
The governor's office is sending out an official news
release early next week about Togiola's trip to
Washington as well as the release of the American
Samoa quarter.
On his way back home, he will stop in Hawaii for the
Samoan Heritage Week set for Aug. 2-7 held at Keehi
Lagoon Park on Oahu island. The organizing committee,
chaired by Afimutasi Gus Hannemann is expected to
release next week the official program.
Commerce Department personnel should be in Honolulu by
now to assist in preparation for the event in
coordination with Mayor Mufi Hannemann's Office.

you, Jud, no Territorial quarters anywhere to be fund. Still looking.
