BYE - BYE WEINER – WE’LL MISS YOU!

The demise of Anthony Weiner, former seven-term democratic Congressman
representing Queens and parts of Brooklyn New York is the classic
Washington personal implosion. We witnessed all the cycles of
political scandal – sensational media hysteria, denial, admission,
refusal to resign, rehabilitation and finally resignation. One must
note his steadfast attempts to cling to power could only be broken
when both the President and Gloria Allred representing his favorite
porn star got a say in the matter.

Weiner, one time Gotham City mayoral aspirant and protégé of Senator
Chuck Schumer (D-NY) enjoys no law degree or financial background to
fall back on. Not unlike Richard Gere in the movie An Officer and
Gentleman – he wouldn’t quit as he simply has no place to go. Weiner’s
career was that of liberal political gadfly. The common joke was one
didn’t last long getting between Weiner and a microphone or TV
camera.

Weiner’s fifteen minutes of numismatic fame came last fall with a
sensational hearing before the Energy and Commerce Committee and
December passage of Guarantee of a Legitimate Deal (GOLD) Act which
passed the House of Representative by a vote of 321 to 84. The
measure which had no prospect for Senate consideration was in a way
Weiner’s swansong. After all - it passed late in the Congressional
session, well after an election that would bring a new majority to
House leadership. A leadership that would strip Weiner of his
committee powers and that would never allow this type of legislation
to see the light of day. Weiner’s personal vendetta to undermine one
targeted mass media marketer of gold coins and bullion that sponsored
a number of conservative talk shows fell short when Congress
adjourned.

In all fairness the efforts by Weiner did serve the numismatic
community and general public. Attention to the issue gold and silver
marketing practices served to energize the Federal Trade Commission to
update and reissue guidelines on buying bullion. The coin community
woke up to various political threats and hired a new lobbyist - former
Congressman Jimmy Hayes (who we understand may not tweet). Barry
Stuppler and leaders of the community also raised over a quarter of
million dollars and launched the Gold and Silver PAC an independent
political action committee to support those who promise to push a
myriad of our issues in Washington.

For all these things and others I may have forgotten to mention we
should thank Mr. Wiener and offer up our thoughts and prayers for his
growing family and personal recovery. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit
if we haven’t heard the last from Weiner – after all there are too
many cable TV networks looking for loud mouth left wing liberal
talking heads and for sure one day a guest spot on Dancing with the
Stars.

When will you demand that Vitter resign, Pyle? Or do you just hate
progressive Jews?

Weiner proposed legislation (defeated by the Republicans) that would
regulate coin boiler rooms like
Goldline where 3 traders found employment after being banned from the
securities
trade for life. Some big coin dealers would rather bash Weiner than
bash the
crooks in the coin industry.

Report it, who cares? This is just the internet and you shouldn't take
it so personal. If you really do have a coin business "I SERIOUSLY
DOUBT IT" shut your business down a while and get a better education.
Then when you learn too speak better English, come back here and we
will discuss this in more detail with you. Until then no will take you
serious.
