In Arizona -- Copper thieves hitting Yavapai phone lines

It looks like the Meth-head tweekers have left
the big city (Phoenix), and decided to go out
into the country to make a little money by
stealing and selling copper to pay for there
drug habit.
Just checking on Bloomberg the price is currently
at $3.80 cents a pound.
Wonder what the record high price Copper has
been at? I have been seeing more stories on copper
thefts.

Authorities are seeking help finding thieves
who have stolen hundreds of feet of copper
wire from phone lines across Yavapai County,
according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's
Office.

Qwest Communications has been the primary
victim of the thefts. The copper is worth
thousands of dollars.
The thieves may be using a rope or garden hose
to pull down the phone lines to ground level
before cutting them.
The thieves have cut down the wires from phone
lines on Page Springs Road in Cornville, Soda
Springs Road and Forest 618 in Rimrock, Forest
Road 119 about a mile north of the Montezuma
Well, and Mingus Mountain.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is asking
anyone with information on the whereabouts of
the suspects or stolen wire to contact it at
928-771-3260, anonymously at 1-800-932-3232 or
through text at 411247.
Authorities said callers may receive a cash
reward if an arrest is made based on their
information. The Sheriff's Office also said to
report suspicious activity near phone lines
to 911.

Not sure what the record was, but 5 years ago it was selling at under
$2.00 per pound.
