From a couple of recent auctions of some nice old collections, I was
fortunate to get some real toughies. Including: 1864 Small Motto and
1872 2c pieces, 93-O, 94-S, 95-O, and 95-S Morgans, a 95-O Barber
Dime, an 1866-S No Motto seated half, and a really nice original
undipped 1913-D Barber Quarter, borderline unc.

Now on eBay...here's the link..thanks for looking.

Nice coins but IMO the 21 SLQ is a VG.
YMMV

If that were a 1916, it would be in anybody's F-12 slab. As far as 21s go,
I've seen the likes of that in F-12 slabs as well. Of course, that means
the one I bought 25 years ago as an "About Fine" is now VF-30. Hey, I'm
gonna make a killing on that one day!

That depends on how long ago you bought 'em.

hehe.
about 1970, i looked at a 93s at a dealers. i suggested it was a vg, being
kind. the dealer said it was a "commercial fine".
nothing much changes.

I know what you're saying...

If this was 1982 or so, I'd agree for sure. I'd also say that any
Buffalo with out a full horn was a Fine at best.

Grading has changed...if we don't recognize that, we never get the
chance to buy nice better-grade circs. It's a fact I recognized with
some reluctance 7 or 8 years ago, when I got back in the business
after a hiatus (raising kids, etc...)

I still have trouble getting nice Buffalos..it was my specialty for
quite a while, and it's so tough to adapt...I just can't buy 'em any
more...

Oh, you can buy 'em, you just have to give VF money for a 2/3 horn (or more
recently, a half-horn).
