I'll probably be adding two more coins to this, one from the time of the
Renaissance or slightly afterward and a Saint-Gaudens $20 gold piece.
History's 12 greatest coins. Sort of.
These coins also comprise my Windows Vista screensaver slide show. I may
play with Powerpoint next, just for fun, to see if I can awe myself a
little more.
You need to have Adobe (previously Macromedia) Flash to view this,
though I believe most people use it as a plug-in with their Web browser.
Corrections or suggestions as always are welcome:

I quite like it. Very nice coins. Sweet porcupine.

Doesn't work with Firefox either, with a Flash slide show like this.
Much of the photo is cropped out.

This porcupine is an example of a coin that seemed too good to be true.
These are crude coins and appear to be easy to forge. There are a number
of replicas around, one from Warrens Coins, unmarked, and one of Museum
Reproductions, marked with an R. I bought this from Mike R. Vosper, a
well-known and reliable dealer, so I wasn't worried, but for the heck of
it I showed it to two other dealers, including Anthony Wilson, who's
very big with English hammered coins, and it checked out fine with both
of them. These "porcupines," which are one variety of Anglo-Saxon sceat,
or penny, apparently often come in very good shape, indicating I suppose
that many were hoarded rather than being heavily used. The obverse
figure isn't of course a porcupine but just looks a bit like one and is
actually a very severely abstracted human head facing right. Cools coins.

Not any more! <g> Thanks for pointing this out.
Well at least Flash works as intended on most systems. I don't allow
Quicktime, Realplayer,
Sun Java or Adobe Reader on any of my systems due to bloat, security
holes, and Quicktime's
and Realplayer's tendency to want to hijack settings and play all
media types,
