unemployment number is in Michigan for the end of January 2009?
In Arizona is is 7.0 percent at the end of January. In California, it is
10.1
percent at the end of January.
I have been out of work almost six months now. I am not getting
any phone calls for part-time or full-time work.

Augustus Caesar distributed old and collectable coins to his favorite
courtiers over 2,000 years ago. In Germany in the 1500s, many princes
could not read or write, but they had to have a collection of Roman
imperial coins or they were considered to have no cultural pretensions
whatsoever. George III (1760-1820) of the United Kingdom formed an
excellent coin collection which was given to the nation (via the
British Museum) by his son George IV in the mid 1820s.
Postage stamps, in the modern sense, did not come into existence until
about 1840. George V (1910-1936) of the United Kingdom was probably
the greatest stamp collector of all times. George was a nice man,
good king, but probably not holding a candle to Augustus.

The unemployment rate for Michigan right now is around 10.6 percent,
believe me, you don't want to come
here to look for work. There has been a steady exodus of people out
of this state in the past few years and
I expect that trend to contine. Once a week on my way home from
work I pass an outdoor soup kitchen run by a local charity and the
sight of hundreds of people standing in line is a sobering one.

one person. 93% in Arizona apparently do have jobs. If I were out of work

Trust me, I have not been sitting around doing
nothing these last few months.
When you have a job, or retired and not seeking
work, it is hard to understand how bad the job
market really is. Arizona has had 15 straight months
of job losses. Arizona unemployment increase by
74,400 jobs just in the month of January alone.

What I am up against is some 100 to 500 people
applying for the same job. I have applications in
at Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and a lot of food stores
seeking either full time or part time work. Trust
me, the job market is very bad.
A brand new Sam's Club was opening up in Surprise
Arizona. Some 170 positions. They received 2000
people applying for these jobs.
I attended a JOB FAIR in Glendale Arizona with 150
companies offering 500 positions. This was held
at the Arizona Cardinals Football Stadium. Some
18,000 people showed up looking for work. This was
sponsored by "jobing.com". The local media cover
this event.
Just outside the Cardinals Stadium, were people
offering help to people loosing their homes.
A lot of the job fairs here in Arizona have a big
turnout of people seeking work.
