I do not usually respond to "FA" posts, but I think I'd like to give my opinion
here. With that scratch, a start price of $5 *might* be on the upper edge of
'reasonable', and the $2.50 S&H is certainly not out of line; but then I see
that I'm looking at $7.50 investment at a *maybe* outside value of a $6.00
coin.
Okokok. So, I gave my critique. What, then would *I* have done? Consider
this, if it does not sell:
Put together a group of coins, perhaps a small collage of silver fractionals
(merc dimes, frank/walk halfs etc), determine what the lowest you'd accept for
each coin, add it up (& add 5в), then make *that* the "reserve" price. Set
your start bid at one cent (with the reserve in place you won't get less than
your minimum). With a 1в start, you'll get the ball rolling a lot easier.

There's a point of integrity here concerning those auctions which you scorn.
You infer of how "lousy" I did with my auctions. But I did *not* reject bids
and cancel the auctions just because I did not like the outcome, as would have
many others. For me, it's a point of ethics.
So ... you're saying that someone should NOT follow the advice of an ethical
seller. What's left? Follow the advice of a cheating scumbag?

Reading the statement gives the jist that the statement was serious ... your
'smiley' was a smokescreen to that, wasn't it?
As this is just another in a long line of head-buttings, I think it's time I
asked you "THE" question.
What was it that caused you these sour grapes? It has been like a few years
since I remember seeing any truly light hearted posting from you. (I believe
the last was on May 14, 2000, when, in response to a comment about Cinco De
Mayo, you said: "When are you guys gonna stop arguing about my uncle Cinco").
It seems also that you now have me catagorized in a slot similar to the one for
Reid - I get nothing but critique from you anymore.
Ok so I'm not perfect. First to admit it. And most of the time I try to deal
with the slams I get. Also, I'll admit that, *usually*, other RCC regulars
take any banter between us with a grain of salt. Admittedly, especially when
you add a "smiley" in spite of the "jist".
But, when a newbie asks a question and you slam my answer in a thread that they
are obviously going to read, you're attacking my reputation as a knowledgeable
person, and inferring that the information that I'm giving is ridiculous; this,
to someone who might not know what you mean by including a "smiley" and who
certainly doesn't know the history of the rapport between us.
Thusly, your post-reply was a character assassination, of a type.
And, finally, once again: when I (or anyone) gives advice and gets
contradicted, that contradiction is only so much hot air if there's no
'replacement' advice given by the criticizer. This is an overall truth,
appliable to all.
So; in conclusion, I'd like to state the following:
I don't know what it was, Phil, that brings you to your current negative
attitudes toward me; nor do I care to know, really. I'm just a bit
dissappointed to see a fellow RCCer become so negative. I hope whatever caused
it gets reversed.

Tim, if you knew that way that me and my buddy's treated eachother, you

We get pretty wicked with eachother and in the almost 20 years (good
lord I can't believe it's been that long!) that we have all been pals,
it has only let to a fist fight once ;)
I got socked in the mouth. It surprised the heck out of me ..... then I
had to start bashing someone's head into the concrete and split a nose ;)
A few short hours later we were pals again and I'm pretty sure we got
drunk again that night ;)
What I'm trying to say is that sometimes friends pick at eachother.
Maybe you should learn to pick back?

It's also my impression the remark was good-natured in intent. The emoticon is
the clincher.
The asynchronous and anonymous nature of Internet posting leads to erroneous
impressions about posters' intentions. It's the nature of our medium.

Methinks the Dobac doth protest too much.
Plain and simple.....I thought it was funny that someone who had recently sold
a $1 note for $0.01 would jump in and explain the protective nature of a
reserve to someone....still think it's funny. ;-)
Oh, and thank you once again for changing the title of a thread to include me.
I don't recall changing the title when I made my comment. Had I done that, you
might have had something to complain about.

In about an hour I'll be leaving for my weekly bowling night. My team consists
of two Polish brothers, two Italians and an African American. A thin-skinned
person would not survive the night.
The worst part....the two Poles are also Red Sox fans ;-)
We are, without a doubt, the funniest team in the league....although I'm sure
some might be shocked at some of what is said when taken out of context.

I thought the same thing Jason. My shop can be absolutely hilarious at
times when we are busting each other. Like sharks with blood in the
water :) but it is all in good fun, we all get along, and no harm is
meant.

Specifically by Phil.....Google the thread to see Phil say:

That's 2 + 2 + 1 = 5. Now, while Phil didn't say "including me", once his
response of 5 came back at you, you "could have" done the math, Dobac or not,
"before" asking Phil why he keeps jabbing you.
Also, if your AOL continues to act (as you repeatedly say) like no other AOL
I've ever seen or heard of, then "knowing that", you should make a mental point
of checking Google, "before" responding as you do.

Jim: you are not Phil; nor is the rapport betwixt you and eye anythink like the

that in my opinion the Virginia State Quarter easilly beat out the Connecticut

Assuming your reader is the AOL browser, as mine is and Phil's is, I'd be
