One of my daughters likes to get her allowance in halves (she turns in for
folding money before spending). The mix I've gotten from the bank includes
lots of bicents, but no silver at all.
Low spot price or no, why would people spend '63s and '64s which probably
worth 3x face as melt? Doesn't make sense when people are hoarding sacs and
SQs.

I would consider it a new type because the difference is so apparent. Or
would that be variety? I get the distinction confused but either way I
would classify it different than 1999 and before. It will be interesting
to see what the Redbook does with it. I think if it was a popular,
obsolete coin such as a Bust or Mercury, they would be listed as
Roosevelt Dime, Large Head and Roosevelt Dime, Small Head. But since they
are a less popular series and modern on top of that, I am not sure it
will get the same attention or classification.

My coins may not be pretty but they have great personalities.

I'm about to dump several clad halves at the bank. My aunt went crazy
saving Kennedys and Ikes because "they don't make them any more". I'm
keeping the silver-containing halves, and I might keep some of the Ikes
because I've got both varieties of the bicentennial, and examples of the
regular reverse in high and low relief. Not valuable, but interesting to
look at at least.

I usually find one 40% silver Kennedy per $40 or $50, and one 90% half for
every $200 or so. I find about 1 silver quarter or dime each year, and
it's fairly easy to find older nickels, even from the 1930's.

That is one *old* dime...
