You guys both need better catalogs ...
It's a Fuld OH200D-12a, with die 1178 reverse, and rated a rarity R-6.
There are thirteen different varities of this particular token,
based on two different obverse dies, ten different reverse dies and
different metallic content used. The most common variety is indeed
an R-1, but the least common is an R-10, with another R-1, an R-2,
an R-3, an R-5, an R-6, an R-8 and five R-9's for the other varities.
Any Civil War storecard catalog that only gives a single rarity
rating for a particular merchant is severely deficient ...
(P. S. I'm now the underbidder on that token ... wish I cudda
stoled it, but it looks like the high bidder fully attributed
it as well ...).

"U. S. Civil War Store Cards", Second Edition, by George and
Melvin Fuld, 615 pages, hardbound, published by the Civil War
Token Society and printed by Quarterman Publications in 1975.
The Civil War Token Society offers it to their members at $85.00.

You can occasionally find a copy on-line from exonumia or
numislit sellers, but it'll usually run $65 or so even for
a used copy. I'm always a buyer/bidder at $50 delivered ...

I've still got my like-new 1972 first edition. Among CWT collectors, would it
usually be valued less for practical reasons or more because it's a first
edition?

That book is currently out of stock and is in the process of being
reprinted, and not expected to be out until the end of the year at the
earliest. The price may change depending upon the cost of having it
reprinted. The CWTS is also coming out with a 5th edition (new) of the
Patriotic book by the end of the year.

The exonumist would undoubtedly prefer the 1975 edition, but might
settle for a 1972 edition if the price was less.
(Actually, since it's out of print and fairly tough to locate at
present, they'd probably be quite happy to find EITHER edition ...).
The bibliophile would undoubtedly prefer the 1972 edition, but
might settle for the 1975 edition if it was cheeper ...
