Was Bozo a word before Bozo the clown? Bozo is one of the first early
childhood memories of television that I have. I can't remember exactly
what the show was about but I know that I liked it. Didn't he have a
sidekick?

Worked for me.
Did you notice that NBC Today Show weatherman Willard Scott played Bozo on a
local Washington DC TV station from 1959-1962?
Doing a little research on this I found out that a few years after he stopped
playing Bozo he created the character Ronald McDonald for the hamburger folks.
Additional for Jason....AOL's online Merriam-Webster dictionary says "bozo"
first came into use in 1920....origin unknown.
