Only 47 have been graded by PCGS in grades between Fine-12 and AU-58,
with the most common grade encountered AG-3. This is an extreme rarity
in this grade and in all the years I;ve sold this date, I have had for
sale only this one and a Fine -12, two VFs, one AU-58, and two uncs.
It is, of course , THE Key date in the Barber quarter series.

See it at:

Thanks for looking. I have many other tough dates for sale as a result
of an extremely productive Long Beach show, best I have had in almost
two years.

I need to clarify the above post. have sold well over three dozen
1901-S quarters in the past decade, but with the exceptions listed in
my original post, the others were all AG-3s, Good-4s and Good-6s, with
a single VG-8. About ten years ago a dealer friend asked if I would
try to sell. one in VF in a SEGS holder for him. The holder stated
that coin was corroded and cleaned, and indeed it was. There was even
corrosion on both sides and coin appearwed to have been polished with
an abrasive powder or cream. It really looked pretty ghastly but I put
it up for sale on eBay as I promised. Within 24 hours a customer in
the Baltimore area asked me about it and I told him what I thought of
it. He asked if it was genuine and I assured him that it was. Within
minutes he bought it using Buy It Now and left me positive feedback
when it was delivered to him.
