I picked up some packs and well. . . I think they suck.
First of all they used a widevision format, which in general I
dislike (so do many other collectors I know) because they are
harder to store. On top of that the cards are on really flismy
card stock. . . they just feel cheap, and ding incredibly easily.
(Plus I had a bunch of cards that were peeling apart at the
corners).
It gets worse though. . . they make the cards widevision, and
the images on the cards are TINY -- the Harry Potter logo takes
up about a quarter of the card, and there is a huge border around
the image. . . the actual image would fit onto about 3/4 of a
regular sized card.
As if that wasn't enough the only chase cards are some type of
parallel foil cards that are kinda tough to tell from regular
commons. And they are inserted at 1:35 packs.
If you are thinking hey, let's make a cheap set with few chase
for the kids to get into collecting cards. . . great though,
but these puppies in all their cheaply made glory cost me $2
a packs -- boxes running around $50. . . not exactly allowance
friendly.
Those are just my thoughts. . . I'd be interested in hearing
what other people think. . .

I hadn't planned on doing these, so I haven't read anything about them, but I am wondering if you
(your card shop) maybe got a retail version ... thus the lack of chases ? But the common cards
would probably be the same imaged and quality ... based on previous Retail vs. Hobby sets ? Are
these Topps ? Otherwise the prices are typical.
Ed :-)

Wizard coulda done much better...the ccg cards they put out for this
series are, imo, stunning...

These were put out by Wizards of the Coast actually. . . not sure
there is a hobby/retail thing going on because their website has
no information about these cards (even though there is a link on
the back of the wrapper the web page is all about the CCG). The
cards have about the same thickness as Magic cards, and the holo-foil
effect on the chase is the same as the 'chase' magic cards.
There is a scan that shows a card at this auction:
http://www.woodpecker.net/go/item?item=3602807 (not my auction)
You can see the size of the image on this widevision card there.

1 in 35 cards not packs. You get 7 foils per box.
Dave
116 cards in the complete ccg set.
I think they're real nice,...38 rares (10 Holo-portrait, 10 Foil
premium, 18 regular), 34 Uncommons, 40 Commons, 4 Lesson cards.
Lots of the holo-portraits and foils have been up on eBay, you might
want to check there to catch pictures of some of them.
Boosters and deck available (only 1 deck was made for this series,
contains 2 holo-portrait cards not available in boosters).
Hope this helps,
Byrna
Oops. . . they are 1:35 cards. . . this is the first time I
have ever seen ratio's calculated like that. . . sorry.
