This is a bit mind-numbing. After my outing yesterday, it
occurred to me that the store probably had more books from
this collection to put out today (Monday). So, after work,
I went back. I was there an hour and a half combing through
the shelves.
I still cannot really believe what I walked away with.
Among the better books are:
Thomas Pynchon, V. (Lippincott 1963) first printing fine
condition in fine first issue dust jacket, in mylar.
Robert Heinlein, Double Star (Doubleday 1956) first printing
very good condition in two fine dust jackets.
Cormac McCarthy, Child of God (Random House 1973) first
printing fine in fine dust jacket in mylar.
Philip Jose Farmer, The Green Odyssey, (Ballantine 1957)
very good first printing in fine dust jacket in mylar.
Patricia Daniels Cornwell, Post-Mortem (Scribners 1990) fine
first printing in fine dust jacket. Her first Kay Scarpetta
novel.
Not to mention three signed John Dunning books, including a
first of The Sign of the Book and ARCs of The Bookman's Wake
and The Bookman's Promise. One of the books even has a book
marker from the Algonquin Book Store that he and his wife
run (or ran).
Nothing like this has ever happened before.
