Don't take it personally, because at least you are entertaining. The
reality is, this isn't much of a discussion group about anything, and it
is overpopulated with snarling deplorables who are too old for sex so
they get their jollies trying to pick fights and insult other posters.

The Trump Administration is going to be an unmitigated disaster for this
country, and it is going to hit the male Trump voters the hardest.

Garrison Keillor had an interesting essay on the future. Here's an
except, with which I agree almost entirely:

"Alas for the Trump voters, the disasters he will bring on this country
will fall more heavily on them than anyone else. The uneducated white
males who elected him are the vulnerable ones, and they will not like
what happens next.

To all the patronizing B.S. we’ve read about Trump expressing the white
working-class’s displacement and loss of the American Dream, I say,
“Feh!” — go put your head under cold water. Resentment is no excuse for
bald-faced stupidity. America is still the land where the waitress’s
kids can grow up to become physicists and novelists and pediatricians,
but it helps a lot if the waitress and her husband encourage good habits
and the ambition to use your God-given talents and the kids aren’t
plugged into electronics day and night. Whooping it up for the candidate
of cruelty and ignorance does less than nothing for your kids.

We liberal elitists are now completely in the clear. The government is
in Republican hands. Let them deal with him. Democrats can spend four
years raising heirloom tomatoes, meditating, reading Jane Austen,
traveling around the country, tasting artisan beers, and let the
Republicans build the wall and carry on the trade war with China and
deport the undocumented and deal with opioids, and we Democrats can go
for a long , brisk walk and smell the roses.

Don’t be cruel. Elvis said it, and it’s true. We all experienced cruelty
back in our playground days — boys who beat up on the timid, girls who
made fun of the homely and naive — and most of us, to our shame, went
along with it, afraid to defend the victims lest we become one of them.
But by your 20s, you should be done with cruelty. Mr. Trump was the
cruelest candidate since George Wallace. How he won on fear and bile is
for political pathologists to study. The country is already tired of his
noise, even his own voters. He is likely to become the most intensely
disliked president since Herbert Hoover. His children will carry the
burden of his name. He will never be happy in his own skin. But the
damage he will do to our country — who knows? His supporters voted for
change, and boy, are they going to get it."

- - -

Yup, the Republicans control the three branches of government. The
disasters that happen over the next few years can rightfully be blamed
on them. I hope I am around to fully enjoy the fruit of Republicanism:
more hate and distrust, no real job training, more wealth going to the
already wealthy, harder times for the middle and lower income folks,
racism, more polluted air and water, the much higher health care costs,
the reversal of rights, the imposition of more police state tactics,
lowering of wages, bigger deficits, rising unemployment, expanded
shooting wars, cuts in education, food inspection, drug testing, and so
forth and so on.

I don't have to worry about what the Republicans do to fuck this
country...so I'll go for long walks and smell the roses.

I think we need to back off and see if it is as bad as everyone
predicts. I have heard the same rhetoric for the last 5 elections.
The government has a certain amount of bureaucratic inertia that
prevents anything from changing too much.
Alas, none of those people who said the were leaving, left. I guess
they talked to their accountant.
I hope Trump and Obama play a lot of golf together and Obama tries to
get Trump up to speed as fast as he can. They have a similar
situation, coming to the white house with very little (Obama) or zero
experience in the government (Trump).
I was impressed with Obama so far and my hat is off to him in trying
to put together the same smooth transition that he got from GW.
It was not like the Clinton assholes who pretty much trashed the place
on their way out the door and were not any help at all in that
transition.

I do think it is funny that after all of the bitching about what would
happen if Trump refused to accept the election results, it is the
democrats who are on the edge of riot. The more you say they are
different, the more they end up acting the same.
I think attacking Trump will just make it worse. This guy is far more
dangerous in bunker mentality than he is if he thinks we are trying to
work together. He really does look as shocked as anyone that he is
actually there. I still think he was not really that interested in
being president. Obama and Ryan are giving him the tour so he might
decide it is worth not being "Trump".

One problem with the Keillor essay that Harry so kindly copied and
pasted: It seems that it wasn't just "uneducated white males who
elected him" (and are therefore are responsible for whatever happens).
The exit polls conducted surprised many because more college educated
males and, surprisingly, women over 40 also voted for Trump ... even in
the populated cities that are traditionally Democratic or more liberal.

It's one of the main reasons he won PA.

The whole "uneducated white male" thing is just another reason Trump won. The majority of these folks that they label as such, in their elite liberal media way of insulting them, are indeed educated. They may not be *college* educated, but the vast majority have a high school education. When Hillary called them "deplorables" that just galvanized them. They are the people that provide these so called "elitists" with the food they eat, fix their cars and homes, provide the many services they require to live their very lives. They are pissed at being pissed on, and to use a phrase I read earlier, Trump was the brick chucked through the window of the whole political institution and the liberal media. This election was a wake-up call from the backbone and core of this nation.

So go ahead and give the "terrified" millennials a day off from their college classes and some pizza. This isn't going away.

8 years of Obama certainly made the wealthy more wealthy, and the
middle class that have to buy their own insurance are paying more than
double what they were in 2012. And you can pay double again, if you buy
an Obamacare policy, but most will get the advantage of having the
taxpayers pay over half of that doubled premium.
An Obamacare policy for my family of 4 is over $18,000.
I was paying $4,860 in 2011.

Let's run this down...

1) You certainly won't be delighted to pay - everyone knows that.
2) The wager was simple and clear.
3) No "modification" of terms is requested - there were no terms.
4) It's really none of your business, but I owe John $100 for a

Another issue I recently noticed and "fixed". I rarely use Facebook but
I started noticing ads on my newsfeed that were related to items I had
recently bought or looked at on Amazon.com. I found out they are the
result of a database used to generate "targeted ads" and places like
Amazon, Target and other retailers sell your data to companies that
sites like Facebook use. Anyway, there are options both in the settings
at Amazon and on Facebook that allows you to "opt out" of these targeted
ads. They are not obvious and you have to search for the settings but
you *can* stop them.

FB's inference engine is very, very good. I have no idea how it works
and imagine the answer is top secret to them. Obviously a lot of
smart guys have done some clever stuff. I know one thing they do is
cross reference EMAIL address lists and smart phone directories. They
may also be getting some help from retail partners like Amazon,
linking up people who have bought similar products, live in the same
area, etc.

Justan, *you* are the little pussy who insults posters regularly and
hides behind your blend of anonymity. I am certain I would test
significantly higher than you in IQ, intellectual achievement, and
rationality. You're lucky the Navy took you in despite your lack of
brainpower and snarly puerility. Back in the day, at my high school, the
white boys would have beaten the shit out of you daily, and some of the
few black kids we had in the school in those days would have removed
your dick, if they could have found it. And those would have been the
girls.

As always, have nice day.

Thank you for your offer, but I believe the matter has been resolved.

I do have a database of names and addresses, but the contents are
limited to business contacts, friends, and acquaintances with whom I
stay in touch. That criteria would eliminate the mooks here.

I do find it humorous that Luddite almost always comes to the defense of
his idiot friend, Justan, though not in this particular posting. My only
interest in Justan is in seeing if he is ever man enough to come out of
the shadows with his constant insulting. I'd certainly not want to get
close enough to him to risk any of his stupid cells floating on the air
over to me and, as I have stated, I have no use for racists.

I have three active email addresses. The moose and squirrel addy is an
homage to Rocket J. Squirrel and his dimwitted buddy, Bullwinkle the
Moose, from Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. It's the one I use mostly with
old friends who remember the cartoon show, but I also use it on other
occasions.

The mindspring account is long gone. Mindspring was absorbed by
Earthlink but has since disappeared, I believe.
