Anyone had any experiences with Melhart boats? I am currently
contemplating the purchase of an 89' Baretta Phaser 230 22' boat. Has
anyone heard any good or bad things about this company? I've been
searching all night for some information or a web site on this company,
but have seen nothing. The boats is priced at 5400 is that a good price
on a good boat? Any help, experiences, or suggestions would be extremely
appreciated.

The company folded a few years ago. The boats were built in Conway,
Arkansas and were of good quality. Treat it as any other used boat
purchase.

Thanks for the information. Any idea how hard it would be to either get
service or parts for such a boat?

Barretta Boat Company went Bankrupt about the time that that boat was
built. Poor quality control, poor design testing, and numerous hull
failures lead to this company's demise. The full fiberglass lined Phaser
series have better than average odds that it "could be" OK, since it
was not built on the regular Barretta assembly line. Have the hull
inspected by a professional. [ and of course, test run this boat on the
lake to verify correct running and handling characteristics.]

Sorry, but anything specific to that boat may be difficult to find.
Most boat hardware, however, comes from companies like Perko, Attwood,
etc.

Good luck

Hi im just letting you know the company went out of bossiness and bankruptcy due to the fuel tank hose being stapled. witch 1989 cause my father a 8 million dollar lawsuit due to working on boats and a brand new one blowing up on him at Jenkins boat sales in Maryland witch led my dad 11 months with 3rd degree burns and luckily surviving. but a lot of boats were recalled after they fount out the fuel line was stapled to the boat.

Geeez!

Sounds like they should have included a staple puller in the accessory package.

Amazing. I wonder what their thought was holding the one in place with staples. I can't imagine this myself...
