Anybody other than the cheapskates here use it? :>)

I use it all the time. It's set as my default image viewer and I do some
basic post processing with it.
It's a great program and fast.
Go for it.
Eisboch
How do you load the filter sets?
Can't seem to get that to work.
Same here. Default choice for viewing, resizing, cropping, format
conversion etc. I'll only start something better if I have retouching
etc. to do. Its batch operations are extremely usefull as well.
I recommended it to you in our recent email exchanges. I use it as my
default image viewer. It's fast and easy. I don't bother with any of it's
editing capabilities. I've got much better tools for that. But for a down
and dirty viewer, it can't be beat.

I don't know. I never downloaded the filter plugins. I just use it as it
is.

Whew! That was a lot of typing....

Yeah - that's what made me try it actually - I remembered it when I
found a CD that had a bunch of old RAW files on it - Windoze won't
open it and Adobe's workflow is so stupid it takes too much time.
Interesting program.

Never mind - fingered it out.
Interesting little program.

It would appear that way.
I'll have to play around with it some more.
It's just so fast and efficient. I like how with a simple press of the
enter key, you toggle from windowed to full-screen mode. I only use it as a
viewer, but even at that level there's a lot of flexibility once you get to
all the properties and settings. It will also compile self-contained
executable slide shows you can give to anybody to run, whether or not they
have the program installed.
>Whew! That was a lot of typing....
Yeah - and I just snipped it all. :>)
~~ snerk ~~
Ungrateful - I know.
Thanks - now I've got it sussed.
I like it so far - very handy for resizing and just viewing photos for
tagging.
I wonder if they accept donations - I'd give 'em $20 for their
efforts.
I use Irfanview for all of my image chores. In addition to all of the
things mentioned, I use the panorama feature to make composites of maps
local with regional views. I use it for the software front end for my
scanner. I use it to create multi-page tif files when I have scan multi
page documents. (I have a flat bed scanner) In this way I can fax one
file with several pages, not multiple faxes to get all of the pages sent.
I have all of the filters installed and use them occasionally in trying
to read tombstones. I do a lot of genealogy research.

Interesting - didn't know it could do all of that stuff.

Kewl beans. Mrs. Wave is into that also. She's got twenty years of
research into her family and mine.
She's got the whole thing laid out in a family tree. Here's an
interesting factoid. My Mom's family is from the mid-West, my Dad's
family is Mayflower descendants from Salem, MA.
About 130 years ago, there is a connection between the two families
by marriage. Then it repeated with my Mom and Dad.
Now here's the thing that's really weird. If you go back that same 130
years, there is a marriage connection between Mrs. Wave's Father's
family and my Mother's family in Ireland. Repeated again by Mrs. Wave
and I.
Absolutely astounding and like totally weird.
>Interesting - never worked with this program before.
>
>Anybody other than the cheapskates here use it? :>)
Yes. Been using it for years. It used to be free, but now it costs a
little. Nice, quick program for very, very basic editing, which is about
all I'm capable of. Great for slide shows, and will handle most formats of
video also. I'm using version 4.1. Don't know what the latest is.

Do it. They'll love you for life. And, they're *very* responsive if you
have a question. It'll be money well spent.
--
John H.
Keith, I am in the process of looking for a flatbed scanner. I'm looking
mostly at the Canon 8800 or 5600, but haven't settled on one yet.
Any recommendations?
(Or from anyone else, for that matter.)
Also, the idea of using Lview as a front end for the scanner sounds
intriguing. I hope I can get more information once I get the scanner.
--
John H.
Whoops. My boo-boo. It's still free. I sent them money, but it was a
donation.

John H.
Really, what part of the country. I have a lot of old records, SS,
Death, Military etc for NY and surrounding states. My parents did
Genealogy for close to 40 years. We are clean back to the early 1400's
in several of our lines.. I'm related to the Wright Brothers.. and
like almost everybody, ;) one of the King Henry's...
My parents spent several summers in gaveyards, libraries, and town
halls...
>I'm related to the Wright Brothers.
Big deal.
Are you related to Kevin Bacon? :>)
No, but I am related to Elmer Fudd...
> Absolutely astounding and like totally weird.
That explains a lot! 8>)
I just checked the InfranView website. Version 4.2 is available and is
still free.
I still use 4.1 and really don't see a need to update, but I downloaded 4.2
anyway but have not installed it.
Eisboch
------------------------------------------------------
What's really scary to Harry is that he and Loogy may be related.
Eisboch
NO WAY!!!!
That would be hysterically funny.
It would explain a lot.
In a way - yes.
You two were in the military...he's more likely to be one of your sons.
Are you related to Bassy?
That would be too funny.
Doubtful. There are no known retards in my family line.
Yours?
Well I guess that settles that.
>Yours?
Of course - me.
Loogy is your son?
In Spartan times, you would have left him on the mountainside.
There are times when you run into people with no sense of humor and no
way to find one.
You are clearly one of those people.
Now THAT was funny. 8>)
Au contraire. I simply find nothing humorous or even sympathetic about
Loogy. I do find you very funny when you are in your "serious"
iconoclastic, 4/3'rds, etec moods, though I suppose I am not supposed to...
You're correct. I had sent them some money which is what stuck in my mind.
When I went to my latest version, 4.1, there were a lot of changes to
contend with, but I hadn't updated for many years.
Let us know, please, how you find version 4.2 when you install it.
--
John H.
And thus a perfect example and proof of my thesis.
I feel sorry for you.
Really.
This seems a bit of the old pot calling the kettle black. Sorry, but I
find your pontificating on the virtues of etecs bordering on the
hilarious, and your extolling the virtues of 4/3'rds on technical
grounds that haven't been achieved presumptuous.
We all laugh at what we find funny. The only attribute I would attach to
loogy is, well, pathetic. But you have your moments, especially when you
do not take yourself seriously.
Nah, there's no fat pigs in my family! Besides, for those who believe
the Adam and Eve thing, wouldn't we all be related?
>There are times when you run into people with no sense of humor and no

>
>You are clearly one of those people.
~~snerk~~
Ahhh...it's our own AIG guy.
Of course you don't find me humorous. I'm dead serious when I say that
you do nothing here but lie about your pathetic life, what you own,
and even your wife.
What grounds haven't been achieved?????

I'm pathetic because I don't have to lie about everything in my life
like you do??
You haven't been keeping up with genetic research have you. They are
working on proving that Lucy is the mother humans.
I sure have. I stated "for those who believe the Adam and Eve thing".
Can't read, huh? Or are you just an idiot?
"retards"? How will Karen feel about that, asshole?
