Does anyone have any information on Glass Hawk boats manufactured in
Liverpool, NY. Mine is a 14 or 15 foot model and I think it was made
in 1962. I don't have any specific questions but would just be
interested in anything available.

I'm guessing it's a 1962 model as the serial number is 62-1059. It's
not a Chriscraft but it has a nice shape and the size is small enough
to be towed by an average vehicle.

Wow, that's a tough one! I was born and raised 40 miles from Liverpool and
never heard of Glass Hawk Boats. Never saw one.

Even Google was completely stumped on this one! There's not a single
document or reference to it! It's not often Google is stumped.

If you turn up nothing here, try contacting a marina in the neighborhood
near where the boats were made. Maybe you'll run across a historian.

Google using the words "marina guide oneida lake ny"

Yes, I tried Google and came up with nothing. I'll try taking a
picture ASAP and post it.

Thanks

I'll try that in the near future. I'll be fishing Big Bay in the
Spring. I'll hit some of the marinas there.

Thanks

I believe what you are looking for is Glasshawk boats which were MFG
clones made from molds purchased from MFG by a guy whose last name was
Glass. I remember purchasing some fabricated parts for an MFG I
restored from a broker who got them from a NOS supplier who bought out
the stock of Glasshawk parts. This was a LONG time ago.

If I see a picture, I can tell.

Anyhoo, Glasshawk didn't last long - I believe they sold out to Larson
in the late sixties/early seventies.

As always, memory may be extremely rusty.

The internet and its search engines come up empty on lots of queries.
Thank goodness.

Glasshawk boats were built behind AC Lamb and Son, Vine St., Liverpool
NY. They produced one or two models of glass runabouts plus some canoes.
My dealership may have sold a few of them - I just don't remember.
I have no idea where their moulds came from, even though the boats
looked suspiciously like some of the Starcraft boats that Lamb's
distributed.
I was picking up a load of Starcrafts one day when I saw smoke coming
from the boat plant. Turns out that it was a pail of resin that someone
had dumped in too much promoter. Not much damage - but a smokey mess.

That was my uncle, Richard Forger's company. He and his son, Matt, built the boats. They worked out of building on their property on Woods Path Road in Liverpool. In the late 70s Matt moved to Los Angeles and has had a very successful career in the music industry. Most notably his work with Michael Jackson for many years. Richard (Uncle Dick) eventually sold the company to a customer. Uncle Dick went on to restore vintage aicraft. He and his wife owned a grass runway airport in Weedsport NY. Uncle Dick and Aunt Agnes have long since retired and live in Solvay NY. Hope this helps.

Don't know if this post will help ..Glass Hawks were a spin off made in the early 60s...they were on Mfg hull..I was told by a local historian they made 3 or 4 models...canoe to 14 foot runabout..they were manufactured in Liverpool NY until there was a fire which destroyed their facility...they were sold through A C Lamb...this information was acquired by myself through Jim Brinson (owner of Brinson Marine...and member of Oneida Lake historical society)..Last year I was lucky enough to purchase a 1962 runabout 14ft...I have since restored it...very intrested if anyone else has one as this is local and rare being in production for only 3 yrs..if so send me an email y41...@aol.com

I see one on Craigslist today for sale with a Black River NY manufacturers plate.

I saw the add and my interest was piqued on a locally made boat. I won't buy it as I surely dont need another canoe, but others on this feed may be interested.

Canoes and kayaks are a glut on the market here. People have these
grand ideas of paddling down the Estero River, then they have to
paddle back and the canoe ends up killing the grass in the yard until
they sell it or give it away. My neighbor always has 2 or 3 someone
gave him. I see this one comes with a motor. That is worth way more
than the canoe. I paid $75 for a canoe and trolling motor and left the
canoe there.
