I have my Regal out of water and have to run the engines. But I can't
seem to find the connection. There is a connection, right?
They are twin Merc 180s.
Anyone know?
Or is it possible that there is no such thing? I thought all motors
had this feature in order to run them out of water.
Thanks
Eddie

Eddie, look right above the prop on the lower end and you should see
some "vents." actually these are water inlet ports which allow cooling
water to be pumped up to the engine. Go to a marina etc, and get a
pair of "muffs" and hook them to a garden hose, put the muffs over the
inlet ports and turn the water on with good force. start the engine[s]
and it should cycle the water through the engines.

It's a pretty well universal system on I/O's and outboards.

You need a set of ear muffs to run water through the stern drive water
pump. Get them at a marine store or on line. Don't run the engines
without water.

A big Thank you!
Going to check out a retail boat store at Bethel Island tomorrow. They
should have them.

I tried the rectangular version first but they didn't seem to seal well
around the intake ports on my Johnson 25.
This cheaper version seems to work well.

The rectangular muffs are for big-boy outboards - not 25HP kickers, dummy.

And those that are too big won't seal at all.

He's got a 25HP Johnson. Some of the rectangular muffs are 2" X 4", or
so. If they don't seal properly, they won't work. That's the problem
he had.

Uh, I'm the OP. Sorry, I didn't say that.
At the time of my post I had never heard of "ear muffs." Well, not
for boats anywayz.

Poor DK has such a hard-on for me...it clouds whatever little judgement he
might have.
A sad case best ignored.

I'm not surprised dumb Don chimed in with another one of his problems
but it was clear I was replying to him and not Eddie. You responded to
me and...
