I have over 800 hrs on my 1991 Jetcraft. Did a valve job on the boat this
year. Had to pull the head because of a rusted in spark plug, so just did
the valve job also. Was running good. The pump is almost a no maintance
item. I assume it's a Kodiak 3 stage. The items that can be changed are
the seals, cutlass bearings, input bearing. The seals last forever if not
run dry, if dry about 5 minutes. The cutlass bearings last a couple of
years if not run dry, if dry about 3 minutes ($60 for the set of bearings
and sleeves). The input thrust bearing ($90), changed mine but was not
the problem, was the U-joint in the coupling. The impeller may have to
have the tips sharpened, from too many rock dings, but don't have to be
replaced. The pump is an easy do it yourself item to work on.
