Looking for a reliable source for marine products via Mail/UPS. Now that
West Marine, E&B, Boat USA, etc. have opened branches in Florida, there is
no benefit to ordering from them since the Sales Tax charged (7%) plus
shipping makes no sense.

Any suggestions out there (websites, 800 numbers, etc.). Its time to do
some major refitting and I'd like to save a few bucks (if possible).

Thanks,

Jim (Albin Owner in Chuluota, FL)

HLSM Parts and Accessories is just openning up. They are in PA, no sales
tax anywhere else. We are just getting on line. I believe you will like
it, www.hlsm.com. We are looking for feed back.
Thanks
Nick

You could try Defender Industries, which has moved its entire mail order
operation to Connecticut so that we in New York no longer have to pay sales tax
buyiong from them. The 800 number is 800-628-8225, 9 to 6 Monday to Friday and
9 to 3 on Saturday. The fax 800 for fax orders is 800-654-1616. The customer
serviuce number is 800-435-7180.

Be warned, however, that they can be slow on shipping. I placed orders last
Wednesday, April 2, by fax to both Boat US (no tax in NY) and Defender. The
order from Boat US arrived the next day while the Defender order has not yet
(Monday afternoon) been heard from. I asked for no special or speedy shipping
on either order. Nor is this a one time problem. I have noted it before.

(Only 7%? Ours is 8.25%.)

Try Overton's - I don't think that they have a store in Florida - but you
have to check their prices and hold them to their low price guarantee.
